British 'zomcom' (or zombie comedy, if you prefer) starring Danny
Dyer. When six men suffering from various symptoms of mid-life
angst head off for a weekend in a remote country village to
reconnect with their masculinity, they discover that all the women
there have been infected with a virus that turns them into
man-hating cannibals. The idea of a mid-life crisis quickly pales
into insignificance compared with the catastrophe the men now face.

Written by cult director and actor NOEL CLARKE, star of Doctor Who
and Star Trek: Into Darkness, and director of the critically
acclaimed movie, Kidulthood. A disparate team of superheroic
teenage vagabonds is on the run and struggling with their powers,
with all the wonders and horrors of being teenagers, and with a
government determined to ruthlessly hunt them down!
Set against the backdrop of Iran s struggle against the rising
powers of Russia and Britain, the memoirs of Mirza Riza Khan Arfa
-ed-Dowleh otherwise known as Prince Arfa (1853 1902) are packed
with picaresque adventures as the prince tells the story of his
rise from humble provincial beginnings to the heights of the
Iranian state. With this translation, his incredible story is
brought to life for the first time in English. Prince Arfa writes
with arresting wit about the deadly intrigues of the Qajar court.
Lamentingly, but resolutely, he chronicles the decline of Iran from
a once great empire to an almost bankrupt, lawless state, in which
social unrest is channelled and exploited by the clergy. He
describes the complex interactions between Iran and Europe,
including an account of Naser-od-Din Shah s profligate visits to
Britain and France; the splendor and eccentricities of the doomed
Tsar Nicholas II s court; the Tsar s omen-laden coronation; and his
own favor with the Tsarina, who would grant him concessions on
matters of vital importance to his country. The result is a memoir
of extraordinary political intrigue. "
All 13 episodes from the first series of the relaunched sci-fi
adventure drama, written by Russell T. Davies and starring
Christopher Eccleston as the legendary Time Lord. In this series,

saving her from the living-plastic Nestene Consciousness, before
taking her on adventures through time and space, where she meets
Charles Dickens (Simon Callow), tries to save her father from dying
when she was a child, and helps the Doctor and Captain Jack
Harkness (John Barrowman) battle the evil Daleks and save the
world. The episodes are: 'Rose', 'The End of the World', 'The
Unquiet Dead', 'Aliens of London', 'World War Three', 'Dalek', 'The
Long Game', 'Father's Day', 'The Empty Child', 'The Doctor Dances',
'Boom Town', 'Bad Wolf' and 'The Parting of the Ways'.

Gotthold Lessing (1729-81), playwright, critic, humanist
philosopher and polemicist was a leading figure of the German
enlightnement era. From his immense literary output two plays stand
out - The Jews and Nathan the Wise - for the passion of the writing
and the timeless urgency of the message. Though differering greatly
in form and content, both plays are eloquent pleas for human beings
to desist from mutual persecution on racial or religious grounds.
The relevance of Lessing's thinking in today's world is all too
clear. They are published here in new English versions by the
award-winning translator, Noel Clark.

The Wedding (Paperback)

The Wedding is a Polish classic, continually in production in
Poland since Stanislaw Wyspianski wrote it nearly a hundred years
ago. A witty but ultimately tragic satire about Polish society,
this remarkable play is set around the celebrations of a wedding
between a poet from the city of Krakov and a peasant girl from a
rural village.
The extraordinary career and impressive literary output of the
'Father' of Polish comedy, Aleksander Fredro, are the subject of
much celebration in Poland in 1993, the bicentenary of his birth.
These new translations by Noel Clark of three of Fredro's best
known plays should do much to repair the relative ignorance of his
works in this country. Virgins' Vows - generally regarded as
Fredro's most accomplished comedy - and The Annuity, both reflect
the author's awareness of the disadvantages suffered by young women
in a male-dominated society. Revenge is a seemingly innocent social
comedy about a property dispute, but the Russian censors of his day
were not slow to spot the subversive potential of the play. Noel
Clark's translations of Revenge and Virgins' Vow's have been
broadcast, to much acclaim, by the BBC World Service.
This brilliant new collection of ten plays for young people will
prove indispensable to schools, colleges and youth theatre groups.
Specially commissioned by the National Theatre for the Connections
Festival 2011 involving 200 schools and youth theatre groups across
the UK and Ireland, each play is accompanied by production notes
and exercises.
"The Pied Piper" re-imagined, the aftermath of genocide in
Rwanda, witches in seventeenth century Norfolk, a giant baby on the
rampage, an extraordinary day in an ordinary school are just some
of subjects covered in the thrilling and varied new plays created
by talented writers for young actors to perform in National Theatre
Connections 2011.
The plays in this anthology offer a huge variety of stories and
styles to ignite the imagination of young casts and creative teams.
Themes are both teenage and universal - ambition, dashed hopes,
fear and confidence, loyalty and betrayal. These new plays embrace
a huge range for their inspiration: they plunder classics and
imagine the future.
